Search and Cartography of Online Opinions

The SCOOP project aims at developing an innovative software application dealing with the complete process of search, acquisition, analysis and representation of online opinions based on new real time processing algorithms for semantic analysis and new cartography technologies.

With the new Web 2.0 media like blogs, social networks and media sites comments, thousands of opinions are produced every day. This whole data constitute a non exploited layer of information about citizen opinions. This information is on standby of new treatments to invent. The traditional search engines answer by the most relevant pages, according to criteria which point out popularity more than relevance itself. Based on standard HTML, the search engines index and restore pages but if these pages are part of a Web 2.0 media the treatment could be inaccurate.

The goal of the SCOOP project is to develop an innovative engine that will not simply scan and index HTML contents, but also extract the useful information from each site, according to their typology. The online opinions analysis engine process will be based on an innovative linguistic technology of sentiments analysis and sentiment topic detection. SCOOP aims to reach the invisible Web to achieve more exhaustiveness. It will provide as an answer to a search query, in addition to the usual long list of documents, new data presentation forms, based on information cartography technologies.
